21st November 2005 - Day 49
This is terrible. I was only awake for 20 minutes this morning. And the usual lunch meeting with Autumn on Mondays was still on.
I was late, but still met up with him for about 40 minutes. After which, I decided to go back to hostel as the weather was not conducive for going anywhere.
Since I was at hostel the whole day, you would have expected me to do some serious work regarding my modules here.
Indeed I was serious, but the pace was much too slow. One extremely simple worked example about probability distribution took me an hour to figure out. Yes, it was really simple, despite the fact that I tend to trivialise things. Ich lüge nicht!
The highlight of the day should be the Flurversammlung. I had yet another opportunity to see how the people here handle administrative stuffs. Some of the things they discussed(I'm a passive participant).
- Whether the kitchen should be repainted. (Yes)
- What colour should it be repainted with. (Light blue)
- When to hold the Flurparty. (Sometime next month)
- How many people can each person invite. (Around 6)
- When should the floor cleaning day be. (On a certain Wednesday when I'm not around)
- How should the teams be organised. (1 team each for the kitchen, common area and toilet)
- When should the Fluressen be. (On a certain Monday when most people are around)
- What I will be cooking for the Fluressen. (Steamed rats. Traditional delicacy of Kuching-pura)
- Whether the kitchen should have a TV or not. (No)
I should have realised earlier. Anyone typing the keywords, "Karlsruhe" and "Singapore" on a good blog search engine would chance upon my page sooner or later.
So, maybe the next Singaporean student who might be interested in coming to Karlsruhe would chance upon my blog too. And be utterly disappointed that it doesn't help in anyway.
