11th October 2005 - Day 8

Old habits die hard.

I thought that once I bought the semester ticket, I will not have to walk so far to take a bus or Straßenbahn.

I was wrong.

To put it simply, I was on time for the bus leaving the hostel. But the bus came early today. So, too bad. I had to walk to the nearest Haltestelle which was a 10 minutes walk away (nothing compared to a few days back).

Anyway, this should remind me that although the buses and Straßenbahnen arrives on time. It doesn't mean I have to be on time. I have to be earlier.

This morning was quite cold. It was misty when I got out of the hostel building. I think it's because there are lots of trees in the surroundings. It wasn't that cold in the town centre.

I reached the Landegewerbsamt on Marktplatz (where the language course is held) on time. Today's lesson was not too boring. We had some revisions on Vergangenheit and some Horverstandnisübungen.

Then it was break time. Everyone went with their cliques, as usual. It was up to me to disturb people again. This time round, I went to disturb this guy from the Czech Republic with my cannot-make-it German. And a girl from Poland too. What to do? I'm the only exchange student from the clean, sunny and beautiful Singapore. Have to do my part to help promote tourism. Yeah, right.

Then we had a change of tutor, who wanted us to write a Beschreibung about how the Druckmesser works. Still not proficient I must admit. But it'll get better. When I start revising...

I had lunch at Mensa (next time, it will be assumed that I have my lunch at Mensa unless otherwise stated). There, I met the Hong Kong guy. After lunch, we went to Durlach. There was nothing there, unfortunately. So there's nothing to show.

Went to Post Galarie at Europaplatz with him and found that they sold fragrant Thai Jasmine Rice, "Zhi Cheng" sesame oil from Singapore, and even "Chu Qian Yi Ding"! But the "Chu Qian Yi Ding" comes in 100 gram packs. The one sold in Singapore is 85 grams. I didn't need to buy any now, I still have the ones I brought over from Singapore.

I think I've been too well taken care of at home. Some of the things I've never realised back at home. I bought this coffee powder because it was cheap.

Cheap Coffee Powder

But I didn't read the fine prints.

This Espresso is suitable for all coffee machines(?!)

Read carefully before buying. I took for granted that all coffee powder are "soluble".

Not to mention the other day when I was buying rice. By right, I should be looking for Thai Jasmine Rice. But it wasn't available. So, I took the next closest thing - the Indian Basmati Rice.

I think I should start taking note of things that I took for granted. Meanwhile, let me laugh at my mistakes.

So it's time for me to go and start doing my Hausaufgabe.

Nah. It's really a case of not reading carefully. Being coffee deprived makes me do illogical things.

I don't think that'll happen to you though. Maybe some other things would. Haha.
