29th January 2006 - Day 104
Today's the first day of the Chinese New Year.
It just felt like another Sunday to me. I spent the whole day in the hostel, since I did not have any visits to make here.
You would have thought I must have been relatively productive with my work. Not quite correct though. I simply felt like doing nothing today.
It's not often, that I get the chance to spend Chinese New Year alone. I'm making the best out of this experience. Unlike thinking that it's a very "routinised" schedule to visit relatives every other Chinese New Year. In fact, as each hour today passes by, I can imagine what I'll be doing, where I'll be, if I was back home.
Sure it's fun (and the red packets are an incentive), but I used to wonder how it'll be like to spend Chinese New Year alone.
My wish has been fulfilled.
No wonderful breakfast today. I skipped it and had lunch at 1400 instead.
I helped paint the kitchen in the afternoon, though not for long. I left the work to the restlichen Mitbewohner.
Seems like some of the people on the floor have some problems with moulds. I got invited into Stefan's room to view an artwork of moulds on the wall. Now he has to scrub them off the wall. It's amazing how they can grow in this cold weather. They must have been keeping their rooms a bit too warm and moist, making it conducive to grow moulds.
It turned from -8 to 3 degree Celcius as the sun slowly made it's appearance. It's good weather for a walk. The weather report looks good for the next few days too.
It's pretty fast. I just realised I will be going home 2 months later. That's about 60 days left before weekends will no longer be spent lazing around.
Actually, that's not true. I'm supposed to prepare for my exams, which are about 2 weeks away. Besides, weekends back home are also not very fruitfully spent in terms of clearing school work.
So, stop dreaming and get back on track!
