26th October 2005 - Day 23

The reality that I'm having Vorlesungen auf deutsch has striked me.

I woke up at 0500 this morning because I had a bit too much last night. I threw a pizza into the oven and that was my breakfast.

After which, I decided to take a nap and wake up at around 0900 since my lecture was at 0945.

I woke up at 0950. But since the school was near, I reached the place at around 1015.

There were only 12 students in the class. The professor gave me the lecture notes and I tried to listen to him. I couldn't understand him at all.

It'll get better.

I went to another lecture venue in the afternoon to find out that the lecture will only start next week. Which means I was free for the whole afternoon. So, I went back to take my laptop to try the wireless network in the university.

After some time, I finally got it working. There was some error with my Rechenzentrum Account and I had it sorted out.

I met Nan again. I wonder why I seemed to keep bumping into him.

I went back to hostel at around 1735. There was a Flurversammlung at 2030. Basically, it's just a meeting for all the people who live on this floor. They discussed what they will be doing for the coming Halloween Party next week.

It was pretty fun watching them discuss and do things. It's not unlike us. Much of what they do depends on the initiative of a person (or a group of people). When the person's gone, the whole project just collapses.

After the meeting, I stayed behind and attempted to talk with them. I realised that, much of my understanding comes from their facial expressions (and to a certain degree, body language), and not from what they said. Lots of guesswork were done. I'm so sure that if they said no while they nodded their heads, I would have taken it to be "Ja"!

I tried a bit of the Sangria mix that they prepared yesterday. It was pretty good.

So, shower time. Followed by übersetzen of the Vorlesungsskripten.
